JDG,

UMC (Taiwan) turned SIII's Savage 3D in eight weeks with working first silicon. THey have a cheap 0.25u process. STM couldn't make Cyrix processors with fewer than 3 million transistors. I do not have confidence that they can yield 8 million transistor Permedia 3s. Also, they seem take (steal?) IP from companies that they manufacture for and later use it in their own products.

As far as the Windows 2000 demo is concerned, it is a total non event for 3D Labs.
