I believe Germany, and or NATO played an important role in breaking up the Federal Republic of Jugoslavia, they recognized Croatia and Slovenia before any EC memeber could re-act! To creat a "reseration" and isolate the Serbs, or to instal a pro-Nato power in Serbia.
The disintegration of Serbia leaves a solid pro-western block on Germany's eastern flank, and could be considered a final version of Drang nach Osten! On the other hand, Milosovic has his own ideas. He wants to grab all the land he can from the break-away republics and creat a greater Serbia! Theese two interests collided in Slovenia, Kraiina, Slavonia, Bosnia, and now in Kosovo! The next time it will be Hungerian turn in Vojvodina. As you say, there will be a partition of Kosovo, sooner or later! Then, NATO has to fight agasint UCK?? Probalby.
