Gordon, Valence has been concentrating their efforts on the lower-cost Manganese dioxide version. I understand that recharges are averaging above 200 at 80% capacity and that R&D is ongoing. By subsituting cobalt in the recipe for manganese, the recharge rate should meet or exceed the liquid electrolyte levels of the 18650's at around 500 at 80%. I have concluded that this is why they were unconcerned last summer about meeting the Motorola spec of 300 recharges. Motorola, and other OEMs have the choice of a more economical or the higher energy version.

An advantage over the liquid (requiring a metal container) is lower weight and the ability to more completely fill the cavity occupied by the capsule for two 18650's in a cellphone. I haven't heard what the % increase would be, but there is definitely some space wasted by round shapes in a rectangular space. The specfic energy per volume for liquid vs solid is about equal so a greater amount of electrolyte should therefore hold more energy.

I haven't heard of any change in the schedule to have production ready to show analysts during the last week of this month.

It is important to remember the terms of the first two joint ventures. Each of these companies has done research and concluded that after spending to bring production of Valence's solid polymer technology on line, the results will still be worthwhile after sharing 50% of the profits with valence! I understand that Cal Reed is now in South Korea for a groundbreaking ceremony!

Remember also that Valence is the only licensee that Bellcore has taken a position in (1,500,000) shares. Could this mean that of all their choices, they placed their bet on Valence? I hope this helps you to put things in a more positive light. Regards, FMK
