I was following the heavy action on BIDS this morning as it was climbing from 20 to 22+ with volume around 300,000 shares per minute. I use myTrack, which is a direct data provider. I had no ticker running except for BIDS itself, no dynamic T/S, and no L2 screens, just some tables more or less like RealTick Market Minders for about 40 stocks, not a huge bandwith load. I believe my bids were pretty accurate, but they were leading the prints by about 1/2 to 3/4 points during a very steady climb. Time and sales shows this history.

My guess is that there was a huge backlog of prints that could not keep up with the market action, possibly all the way back to NASD.
