Securities Firms News Tue, 27 Apr 1999, 2:19pm EDT Yahoo Puts Warning on Stock-Chat Message Boards, WSJ Says Santa Clara, California, April 27 (Bloomberg) -- Yahoo! Inc., an Internet search engine, reminded participants in its stock-chat message boards that the service is for ''entertainment only'' and they shouldn't trust the identities of other visitors, the Wall Street Journal said. Yahoo and other message-board operators are facing increasing scrutiny from regulators who fear the rooms are spreading false information. A spokeswoman for Yahoo said the notice serves as a reminder to users of information that's always been explained in the service's terms of use, the Journal said. Santa Clara, California-based Yahoo, which is acquiring Geocities and Broadcast.com, is the No. 1 Internet search directory. (WSJ 4/27 B3C wsj.com) © Copyright 1999, Bloomberg L.P.
