Tower Records Chooses Net Perceptions(TM) to Supply Advanced Web Site Personalization
Record Superstore Pioneer Looks to Experts in Real-Time Relationship Marketing to Enhance www.towerrecords.com
BOSTON, April 27, ORACLE E-COMMERCE SEMINAR /PRNewswire/ -- Tower Records is working with Net Perceptions(TM) (Nasdaq: NETP - news) to enhance its web site with real-time personalization for its music buyers. The improved site will provide unparalleled personalization by accessing customer data from Internet and retail sales.
''Since we opened the doors of the original Tower Records location, our success has been based on building excellent customer relationships,'' according to Mike Farrace, Vice President Worldwide Marketing for Tower Records. ''Adding Net Perceptions personalization allows us to update that customer service tradition by using advanced recommendations to build on that hometown-style service. Net Perceptions supports this by comparing people with similar tastes to make recommendations.''
Visitors to the Tower Records Web site will receive music suggestions based on a unique mix of data sources processed by the Net Perceptions recommendation technology. In addition to specific preferences gathered with a brief questionnaire, the Net Perceptions for E-Commerce product will use other Tower Records databases and real-time click-through information to offer more accurate album suggestions.
''Even if our retail sales staff knew every customer by name it would be difficult to find the time to personally make as many quality music suggestions to customers as Net Perceptions can,'' adds Farrace. ''Now we can leverage what we learn from personalization on the Web to arm our retail sales staff with great technology to match our great selection. Net Perceptions clearly understands the importance of personalizing every customer interaction, and they have the tools to make it happen.''
According to Steve Larsen, VP Marketing and Business Development for Net Perceptions, ''Many Internet merchants do not have the foresight, or opportunity, to apply the knowledge gained from personalization on a Web site to a real-world retail environment. Tower Records has both, and more importantly, they are planning to do something about it.'' |
