jon - thanks for the info on short interest. i checked and found some articles posted today at wsj but i couldn't find anything for qcom. could you post a url? thanks.

interesting that qcom short interest is up like that. i'd guess that the 8.2 million shorts that were with us are not the same 8.9 million shorts that are with us today. there were some days of extreme upward price moves in april which looked like a short squeeze in the works.

for what it's worth, i'd rather own a stock sporting a large short interest. it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that there are almost 9 million shares of non-discretionary buys out there. also, those shorts are actually doing us a service. they tend to keep the lid on the stock so it doesn't runaway too fast. they also support the stock when it is falling.
