With a stock like this, where supply exceeds demand, it is easy to prop up a stock with buys in order to set up future sales.

>Is this common behavior?? Why would someone with hundreds of thousands of shares piddle around with blocks this size??

I wouldn't know how "common" this is, but as far as the size, you certainly wouldn't want to trade in huge blocks - you would drive
the stock to far in one direction, to your own detriment. Would be different if this were a high volume stock. That's the main reason fund managers won't touch microcaps often - you would have to just as much research an analysis on a company, but even with a winner, it would be difficult for you to obtain the number of shares to make a difference in your portfolio without severely affecting the short term price.

The other thing to note is that "he" could be playing his personal shares, which are just a percentage of the full Simms holdings.

Bottom line is that Simms is methodically getting rid of shares - in Dec 98 the holdings totalled 390,000 shares approximately - while making good money in the mean time. Outside of the "investors" Simms
has the largest holdings.
