Juanita--- Your rambling has more sense than the the labors of many on this thread. I think we should have crushed the offensive being mounted against the Kosovar Albanians, and then seen how the Serbs reacted. The object of war is always to break the enemies will to fight, which sometimes requires more force, sometimes less. Also, it may be that we unnecessarily prolonged WWII by calling for unconditional surrender. In fact, we modified that in the case of Japan by allowing them to retain the Emperor. Similarly, it may be that we should take things like the demand for Milosevic's head off of the table. One of the things I fear is that if we do not negotiate a settlement soon, the public will turn against the operation, and NATO will falter to its detriment...
