The beauty of finance is that policies that are "best for the company and profits" are ALWAYS aligned with policies that are "best for shareholders."

You're right about that, but it is debatable whether a spinoff is actually best for shareholders beyond the very short term.

On a separate note, I've been following the CUBE BRCM comparison recently, and many are making the argument that BRCM is destined to follow CUBE's path of three years ago, because that is the reality of the growth curve as competition enters the picture, and anyone who believes BRCM's management is smart enough to avoid it is naive. Does this mean this thread owes CUBE's management an apology? If smart tactics at BRCM can't avoid a tailspin, then there is nothing CUBE could have done either, except ride it out.
