Bob,
Interesting new product. Not sure I completely understand what they are doing. But it is not computer connected. Ergo, not internet, unless it could function as smart card. But, of course this is just the beginning of its possible uses.
I dont think that fingerprint readers will be the biometric of choice for the internet. Voice is more likely. Saftylatch is already usuable in most computers. At home the fingerprint reader would be subject to 6 year olds jelly sticky fingers etc.
Fingerprints may be the product of choice for the back offices of financial and other institutions, where the $100 price tag will not matter much. The question would be, does IDX have the middleware to allow companies intranet or extranets to utilize prints for a sign on for the server, and to work as a Single Signon. I don't say they don't, but have they announced it?
I don't what it would cost to develop, but it may wind up being cheaper and more effective for them to buy it from SAFlink.
It is sure nice to write on a civilized thread,
Regards,
Sheldon
