>While strolling through Apples website I became enlightened. If you
had any concerns about QT 4.0 performance, forget everything you
once knew. While QDesign's Audio codec is already in use, the video
quality is yet to be revealed. I noticed that under get info in the QT
Player and then streaming track--Format none of them use the
latest Sorenson Compression (2.0) although QT 4.0 is ready to read
the files.

"Sorenson Video 2 to ship soon Sorenson Video version 2.0 is
undergoing further testing which has pushed the expected ship
date back from April 30 to May 7. Check back for updates.
Information about Sorenson Video 2 can be found at the Sorenson
Video home page."

and for the nitty-gritting (only for those that want to know the
potential of QT) on their software for Quicktime Streaming (Sorenson
Broadcaster):

And if you are asking why the Quicktime Trailer for Episode 1 640 x
288 44khz stereo(QT 4.0 rqd.) is only 25mb while the smaller 480 x
216 22khz file is still 25mb. the difference is Sorenson 2.0 vs 1.0
respectively. [George must have had connections to get Sorenson
2.0]

Apple had many pieces of the puzzle to put together and this is one
of the pieces that they had to wait for and couldn't just "pull it out of
their bag of tricks."

This QT 4.0 Pro stuff is a must have. There's nothing like watching
your stream skewed, rotated, and scaled to more than twice its
size. This stuff's actual meant as a production tool for video. But hey
if it straightens out the way I see things, more power to apple.

And for those that are concerned about the $30 pricing. Real
Network does the same thing and I doubt it has 1/10 the
functionality.

Keep the faith. Have fun. And hang on for WWDC.
