aatkinson: Growth in ZOLTs carbon fiber sales was only 8% from Q1-96 to Q1-97!

Q1-97 Carbon Fiber Sales = $5.3MM or only $21.2MM annualized versus $4.9 last year. And now ZOLT is only saying that the expansion will begin coming online in 1997. The resulting sales and income from the expansion are definitely what will determine the true value of this stock.

In doing any analysis on this stock, it is very important to break out the acrylic business from carbon fiber as the sales and earnings growth over the last year are almost all from the Hungarian acquisition. Be wary of the S&N and Merrill analyses as they both have a vested interest in the stock.

By the way, if ZOLT is truly going to sell carbon fiber at $5/lb versus $11/lb today AND somehow maintain margin, a 20 cent difference on energy cost IS significant.

Good luck.
Flyguy.
