I'd like to see BW come across with restitution to me because of the false and misleading press releases they put out for MTEI, ICVI and HDST just for starters.

They can't have it both ways

Very astute. Personally, I don't think its any of their business as to the veracity of the releases sent through them. They are only a messenger . They could not critique the truth of most of their releases even if they wanted to. It is kind of analogous to an author and a publisher because the publisher turns around and says: "Hey! I didn't know this was fiction. I have a very low IQ.
I'll sue you!"

How many press releases are without false and misleading statements? And most of these are done in cold and calculating ways in order to derive substantial benefit. The FBN experience was an altruistic one and absolutely unique in a media bombardment of lies for personal gain that occurs on an hourly basis. CNBC carries speakers every day that attempt to mislead in various ways. People go on radio talk shows and try to mislead. Do they get sued, called ugly names, and have their characters and motivations insulted and denigrated?

There was no way this joke could have led to any harm as no consideration was given from either side to/from the public that responded. At he most, they got a good laugh, which is beneficial. And how could anyone blame Business wire for a misleading release, when they are not the authors of their releases and, (2), a large percentage of their releases have false and misleading statememts.

The other wire service enhanced their reputation by demonstrating class and maturity...and also a sense of humor. Perhaps it is not too late for Business Wire to do the same.
