Dan you should have seen crossfire tonight. I don't normally watch but Zoe Lofgren from the bay area was on the liberal side. I forgot who the conservatives were. The topic was gun control... they read Hastert's call for a committee to discuss school and children violence - a list with about 8 topics for this committee, 1) the media, 2) parental supervision, 3) school policies blah blah blah - then Press says... "Isn't there something missing from this list - like easy access to Guns??!" No, thats not the issue says the wacko gun nut from the right. What needs to happen is school personnel need easier access to arms. Lofgren: are you suggesting we arm the teachers and the cafeteria workers etc? Gun nut from the right: "yea it would save lives" HA HA HA HA HA Lofgren said , well thats just so ridiculous perhaps its better for me to say nothing here.

One interesting thing I discovered from the show. The NRA donated a measly $8 million to republicans last year. The country is significantly more violent than it needs to be because of a dinky $8 million (the cost of an upscale home in the bay area). I mean, come on. I thought we were talking about a massive organization here.
