if the water is below 52 degrees i usually tie on a pheasant tail or a gold ribbed hares ear with a second trailing drop emerger pattern to catch the rising trout. If the water warms this time of year I tie on a blue dunn about a 18 or 20 in dry pattern which i tie parachute. usually a 6x or 7x leader as the water on the fryingpan is crystal clear.

Some days the shrimp pattern works and on a 20 hook i have landed 11 pound browns that dine on these like it was all you could eat night at Red Lobster. On a 6x leader it takes about 9 AYYYYYYAAAAHHHHHS! to land one of these beauties. Also about 10 minutes and a sprint downstream.

Barbless hooks and total release. The only way to fish.

Now what was the question??

Bill on the Hill - and in the canyon and the water.
