Progressive Corp. To Cut Md. Auto Insurance Rates By 5%

BALTIMORE (Dow Jones)--Progressive Corp. (PGR) plans to reduce its auto insurance rates in Maryland by 5%, or an average $80 per policy, effective Tuesday.

In a press release Tuesday, Progressive cited lower claims costs and its Immediate Response claims service as reasons for the decrease.

Progressive, an auto insurer, said since October it has reduced its auto insurance rates in Maryland by more than 7%.

Just an interesting blurb. HMN does not have significant operations in MD (not in the Top 10 in terms of P&C Direct Premiums).
