But Rashtchy said that after Yahoo's recent stock purchases of Broadcast.com (for $5.7 billion) and Geocities (for an estimated $4 billion), Yahoo executives said they weren't planning another acquisition in the near future. That said, Rashtchy believes a deal for CheckFree which could cost an estimated $3 billion would make sense for Yahoo.
It would actually be a coup for them, he said. It would be the most successful acquisition Yahoo ever made. It would mean they were getting into e-commerce a lot faster and a lot stronger.
It could also be an aggressive move since CheckFree is the sole provider of online bill payment services, he said.
If they were to decide that CheckFree services weren't available to other portals that would be a tremendous advantage, said

Rashtchy. They could say ‘come to Yahoo! to pay all your bills.

Hey A.W., Top of the morning to ya! Right now it's a COUP for us.....and I don't sell out on a coup cheap. But 9 or 10 Billion would be fine with me also....or about $225 4 years early.
