Jill, current shares outstanding is irrelevant regarding AOL or any other company's ability to announce a split. I think AOL has learned the fine art of shareholder management (much like Mr. Softee) and this is just a part of the orchestrated movements of management.

There is no reason to announce all positives at one time. AOL's earnings were very, very positive. The revenue numbers were awesome. Just wait until all those new users from last Q start paying their monthly access fees this Q. AOL's story just gets better and better from an investment standpoint. It makes sense for them to wait at least a few days to announce a split. It helps AOL's management support AOL's stock price from a long term perspective.
