Mr. Rick Segal reports
Bid.Com and Chapters Internet have entered into an exclusive book selling
partnership. The agreement includes the development of a Chapters-branded
book category on the Canadian portion of the Bid.Com Web site, as well as
Chapters.ca merchant link buttons and Internet advertising throughout the
site.
As part of the relationship, Bid.Com will create a unique category on its
Canadian site for the purpose of auctioning and selling books, enabling
shoppers to locate and purchase special gifts and collector items at low
prices. Bid.Com visitors will have the opportunity to browse and buy rare
books, signed books and other Chapters merchandise on-line, reducing the
amount of time traditionally needed to search for these hard-to-find items.
To enhance its off-line presence, Bid.Com will launch unique promotional
events in Chapters retail stores across Canada in the coming months.
On April 23, Chapters began advertising on www.bid.com to promote the
launch of its new e-commerce site, www.chapters.ca. The Chapters' book
category on Bid.Com will be available on-line early this summer. Other
opportunities are currently being explored that combine Bid.Com's auction
technology and Chapters Internet's position as Canada's most popular online
bookstore.
