Another alternative is to write naked calls, especially when the stock has spiked up and shares to short may be difficult to locate. The usual cautions of not taking positions larger than one can afford to lose in entirety on the maximum upside estimate should be heeded. Done in judicious amounts to dollar average, this approach should capture the time premiums and smooth the ZONA roller coaster, an apt analogy; price gravity is inevitable with ZONA--a penny stock in my regard.
