To Tim A: What is most interesting about this and the string of other Ericy press release handouts (for the Wall Street Journal and other "street" fans) is that Ericy FUD is alive and well. Well, perhaps not well, but well still grinding on. The joke in the press release is the Vodaphone statement - which in effect welcomes Ericy to the test cite for technical evaluation.

"Vodafone welcomes the introduction of Ericsson WCDMA equipment to our
Newbury trials," says Alan Harper, Vodafone Ltd's Managing Director. "We are
delighted to be commencing trials well before the forthcoming 3G license
auctions, so that we can understand the practical challenges of deploying
WCDMA. Joint early experience will also help us align our inputs to 3G
standardization to ensure these are completed in a timely fashion to allow
commercial service to start as soon as possible."

Will be most interesting to see Vodaphone test Ericy vapourware or whatever it is alongside the CDMA override to GSM which Vodaphone tested long ago, and the CDMA 2000 entry which is pretty far along in its specificity by report. Chaz
