Shouldn't BW care more about eliminating their abuse by frauds
than by pranksters?

BW doesn't think it was a prank. They think it was (from their own press release):

online hoax
The bogus press release
a fake solicitation for investments
the phony press release
the hoax
false assertions
fraudulent investment schemes
alleges violations of federal and state trademark laws, fraud, breach of contract,
defamation and conspiracy
