I agree with your statement above. I'm assuming you mean, to many subscribers on a shared system, will mean installing more nodes. But from what I have heard (From GTE Worldwind and Time Warner Road Runner techs), that is a relatively easy fix and a good problem <G> for last mile HFC investors.

Slightly changing the subject, I hope you don't mind discussing this issue again(I think I brought it up about 6 months ago?). It is somewhat related to your comment above and I kind of forgot the conclusions we drew.

Don't the ILECs also face some throughput problems because most of their COs have copper running to them? In other words, if they do deploy any variant of DSL services(especially VDSL) to the home or small business, don't they also need to do some heavy duty upgrading on the other side of the CO?
