Blasphemous questions, indeed. But, as you know, TA usually works sometimes --- and always in retrospect! Problem is when to use it. I can think of two analogies:
(1) The use of cypher codes during war. Fine, until the enemy knows them, then disastrous to use them.
(2) The question about the clock --- which is more accurate, a clock that is slow or a clock that has stopped? Answer. The clock that has stopped. Why? Because the stopped clock is right twice in 24 hours but the slow clock is never correct.

Re value, it is always perceived value. The market always anticipates. Buy on the rumor, sell on the news etc.
