So are you saying we should all have guns around because "suicide is painless"? And do you want to multiply out 35,957 deaths in 1995 by Kleck's 75 to show us how many lives guns "saved" that year? Wow, we might have had 2.7 million gun deaths, if we didn't have guns for self defense. Don't bother pointing out the error above, I think Kleck's methods are dubious at any rate. People get mad all the time, without guns, the odds of survival would be better. Or maybe you prefer the "right to carry" solution, where we all have guns, so every little altercation has better potential to turn deadly. What we need is more guns, not less!

Then there's this ever favorable comparison: In 1993, handguns were used to kill 82 people in Japan, 76 people in Canada, 33 people in Great Britain. We did much better.
