"General Instrument has about 60 percent of the analog set-top market, while Scientific-Atlanta currently commands roughly one-third, maybe a little less. Assuming that holds up in the digital arena -- and it should, since no one else is even close to being competitive -- both parties stand to benefit from a market that at least one analyst (Truc Do of Soundview Financial Group) estimates could be worth $22 billion just in North America, let alone the rest of Earth."
