Looking at MU to predict the future of AMAT is telling only part of the story and is probably misleading this time. While MU is down 50% during Q1, other major semi vendors e.g. TXN, LSI, MOT are holding up pretty well and are even extending their gains.

The SOX index has been trending sideways for four months now, and AMAT pretty much followed it.

DRAM may be weak, but it's not the only game in town. Communications and the SEA foundries, for instance, are showing strong signs of life.
