Hi Mike,
Good luck on the trade. Short term, corn looks bearish, but I don't think prices are going much lower, of course, WDIK. I know the fundamentals don't support that, but some of the stuff I look at is VERY BULLISH on the grains long term. Of course, I won't argue with the market, so it's really up to her. <g> I will post some thoughts later tonight, when I get the chance.
Have you been following the solar flare (sunspot cycle) or la nina stuff at all this season? From the little reading I've been doing on it, it seems we are in a part of the cycle, where flares increase rapidly which can in some cases cause very dry -drought- conditions. This current cycle will peak in 2001, but now is where the rate of change is the greatest and can alter weather patterns most. I'm not sure, but I think la nina may also complement this somehow. If someone out there knows, feel free to jump in. The anecdotal reports of dryness, in disparate areas seem to support this (plains, florida fires, etc.).
The last similar pattern of this type that I am aware of is the 87-88 growing season. That was quite a weather market, imo. <g> Oh well, just some ramblings, feel free to correct my mistakes, I'm not a fundamentals guy! <g> Talk to you later
Regards,
