Chile Government Awards Highway Job To Mexico's Tribasa

SANTIAGO (AP-Dow Jones)--Chile's government announced Monday it awarded a contract to
build and manage a 210 kilometer section of the Pan American Highway to Mexican firm Tribasa
SA.

In the government gazette Diario Official, the Public Works Ministry outlined a 23-year project,
after which control of the highway, called Route 5 here, would return to government hands.

Tribasa will spend $260 million to improve the highway, according to government specifications.
Tribasa first bid on the project in July 1996.
