This is Ubid's definition of "Refurbished" cut and pasted from their web page. It is very hard to find, but its there.
This does not sound like an 8 year old, very used monitor to me.
I read the definition BEFORE I placed any bids

Here's the link

Here's the definition

Refurbished
Consumers sometimes return products to the vendor because they decide they don't like them for aesthetic reasons, or they have a scratch or they discover they don't need them. These products are given a thorough inspection by the manufacturer or a refurbishing company, cleaned and serviced (if needed), and guaranteed to meet all original manufacturer specifications as if it were new. Most merchandise classified as REFURBISHED comes with a vendor warranty, but you should verify this on the product information page
