Of course you miss the fact that most of the "innovations" you list here would never have
existed without the work done at Bell Labs over the past decades. Ironic, no?

What, you on the LU legal team? That's a bunch of cr*P. Bell Labs is no more responsible for Novell's nos, cisco routing success, or stratacom/cascade ATM success then they are for the secret sauce in Jack-in-the-Boxes hamburgers. LU doesn't have a chance in H*!! of winning any of their lawsuits...they're filing them to slow the industry. Everyone knows it. LU however is smart enough to know that the cost of the lawsuits is far less then letting convergence move too quickly.

Bell Labs' patents were tightly held - so there are only two answers. One, each of the companies Freeflight listed developed their own technology...and it just so happens to be approximate to what Bell Labs wrote on paper - yet never developed. OR, in forum meeting LU offered up technology for inclusion into standards and now that the market is taking off they want royalties... Hee hee.. Ah, yeah, right. That'll hold up in court. Get real.
