neocon, what I see in you is a very altruistic attitude about the inherent "goodness" of our institutions and the belief our national interests ultimately cannot be subverted by individual men. I used to think that way too. But now I realize we live in the land of the personality cult and I do believe that charismatic, popular leader with refined communication skills has the ability to over-reach his/her constitutional mandate and use our institutions as an instrument of personal aggrandizement. (I'm speaking of Clinton's search for historical relevance and legacy).... bp
