I think that the problem with the view that a single group is pulling all of the strings - whether overtly or covertly or in some combination of the two - is that while it gives a person a "unified" world view, it's just plain wrong.
Now, I sincerely believe that there is manipulation outside of the scope of what we're fed through the major media. The major media is part of the manipulation as well, in my opinion.
I think though that there are a lot of groups working "in front of and behind" the scenes, in order to advance whatever agendas they have, and these groups form and reform alliances, and band and disband with regularity, so there are power struggles but since they are ever-changing, no unified world political theory can be attained.
I find it safe then to simply renounce tyranny, and to proclaim that the only moral human interactions occur with the full knowledge by all involved parties of the details of any transaction, and the full consent of said parties.
Admittedly it's simple, but to my mind the only argument against it involves that great debate as to whether we're born to be at liberty or to serve. Most people seem to think that service is the key. Very few believe in personal liberty (the knowledge of details and consent of all parties being essential in any moral transaction), as I've described above.
As for our situation, it appears to me that United States interests have been sacrificed for the service of other - perhaps nefarious - entities. So many of the events of the century give no other rational explanation, for they make no sense in the conext of "what's best for the United States and her citizens."
