To All: I have no idea about the technical analysis of ABTX. I am strictly a fundamental investor and feel this is a good long-term hold. There seems to be some question on this thread about profitability for ABTX in this third quarter. I have, however, stated previously that there is no question in management's mind that this third quarter (Jan-Mar) WILL BE PROFITABLE. This was stated repeatedly at the annual meeting. The effect of the acquisitions later this fiscal year will only affect whether the small profit ($0.02/share) forecasted FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR will occur or whether the acquistions will cause a small loss FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. I asked K. Gillespie who were the larger companies in the forage and turf business and she said these were companies like Pioneer and DeKalb who were primarily involved in corn, soybeans, etc. but still had sizable sales in the forage and turf sector. Management felt that they will be number one in sales by June 1997. By the way, there is a good article about Monsanto and its agricultural business in the most recent issue of Forbes (the issue with Peter Drucker on the cover).
