But your answer makes sense. I'll go yank out a book and see if I can find something. The problem is that it's all heresay at this point, and Old News. Very Old News. I'll try and find a picture of the coat of arms, that might give a clue.

They had a terse way of dealing with corrupt civil employees and such back then. Public flaying. I guess it kept the crime rate among public officials down to almost nothing.
