Well, the only point I differ on is FDR. I think he just didn't expect that much damage. Of course I could be wrong and you're probably right about not disseminating that particular rumor. Generally I'm a speaker rather than a writer, and I sometimes forget that my writing will hang around and dog me. Oh well. I sincerely hope that this will wind down rather than up, but I just don't feel that it will. Maybe it's just gloom. I'm not sure that a manufactured incident could be pulled off, but I genuinely believe that Bill Clinton thinks he's bulletproof. Again, I don't know but I hope. -BLT
