I suspect that, despite the efforts of the precariously perched final placemented (Peter Principled) middle-management buffoons, good ideas still make it through and good people still advance. Sometimes.

You really are preternaturally polite, aren't you? You seem to gently defend virtually everyone and everything against anything you feel to be unjust. I think that's admirable, although I could see it being annoying too. It's probably better than cynicism though. Maybe I should practice it myself. It'd probably be good for my karma.
