Regarding Brocade and Sun, my response is "Don't rule out Ancor ( yet )". Sun is interested in lowest cost per port and it remains to be seen whether Brocade can deliver. Sun could choose to go with Ancor only, Brocade only or BOTH. I will say that Sequent appears to be a very high probability to run with Brocade's Class 2/3 switch which purportedly runs with the other Emulex/HP components. However, even if Brocade gets the Sequent business initially, I think Ancor stands an excellent chance of successfully counterpunching with their new switch later this year.

IMO, Scott McNealy will not award business to a vendor soley based on his personal relationship with a person at the vendor. I have a friend who told me of a sales executive who was close enough to Scott to be at McNealy's wedding. The executive to this day has yet to get one iota of Sun business. To suggest that Sun would get the Sun business because of McNealy's personal relationship is a lame excuse by Steve O Hara, probably another off the cuff remark that he now wishes he didn't make. The ultimate decision by Sun will be based primarily on performance and cost. I think Ancor is still in the game with Sun as well as other OEM opportunities. I am willing to concede Sequent to Brocade for now.
