APR 29, 1999, M2 Communications - Compaq has today unveiled its new range of Internet- ready
Presario home PCs, all available at lower prices than last year. In response to feedback from
customers, Compaq reaffirms its commitment to the Internet - offering every Presario purchaser easy,
reliable and affordable Web surfing. Compaq continues to offer easy Internet access services,
improved Web navigation to the most popular Web activities and new integrated technologies for
ultra-fast Internet connection. The new range of Presario PCs offers users unprecedented levels of
performance, with faster processors, more memory and massive storage capacity.
Highlights of the new desktop range include:
* Innovative, Easy Access Internet Keyboard - offering one touch Internet access
* New processors including the latest Intel Pentium III
* Ultra DMA hard drives on all models
* Diamond PCI 56Kbps ITU V.90 modem
* Yamaha soft synthesizer wavetable on all models
* Easy Access Buttons and keys on the keyboard including: Instant On/sleep button, instant Internet,
instant search, instant email, featured website, volume control buttons, audio CD player buttons and
favourite application launch button

Unique Software Choice Programme
Any customer purchasing a new Compaq Presario may select additional software for just the cost of
shipping and handling. This enables customers to choose up to eight additional PC software titles that
best suit their requirements and needs from a list of 24 titles. Software options include: games (Abe's
Oddysee, Joint Strike Fighter, Actua Soccer 2, Unreal and more), productivity and creativity (Corel
WordPerfect Suite8, CorelDraw, Lotus Organizer and more) as well as informational/educational titles
(Eyewitness Atlas of the World, Ultimate Human Body 2.0, Learn Windows98 and more). Several
titles are available on DVD for customers who purchase a Presario with a DVD-ROM drive.
Presario 5100 Minitower Series - Power for the Internet and Expandability for the Future The Presario
5166, 5176 and 5186 are designed to offer budget-conscious users high quality, powerful, affordable
and fully featured PCs. These expandable and upgradeable desktop machines are priced at GBP 699*,
GBP 899* and GBP 999* respectively.
The Presario 5166 features a 333MHz AMD-K6-2 processor with 3DNow!, 32MB 100MHz
SyncDRAM and 4GB Ultra DMA hard drive; whilst the Presario 5176 features a 400MHz
AMD-K6-2 processor with 3DNow!, 64MB 100MHz SyncDRAM and 4GB Ultra DMA hard drive.
The Presario 5186 incorporates a 450MHz AMD-K6-2 processor with 3DNow!, 64MB 100MHz
SyncDRAM and 6GB Ultra DMA hard drive.

Presario 5200 Minitower Series - Top-of-the-range Performance for the Ultimate Experience The
Presario 5286 and 5296 offer the ultimate combination of advanced multimedia, amazing one-touch
Internet solutions and large storage capacity, all at exceptional value for money.
Both PCs are equipped with Compaq's Creativity Action Centre enabling easy connection of USB or
MIDI hardware such as digital cameras and joysticks to the front of the PC. With accelerated 3D
graphics, spectacular Yamaha soft synthesizer sound and latest DVD technology, the Presario 5286
and 5296 provide customers with exceptional power and performance.
The high performance Presario 5286 and 5296 are priced at GBP 1,149* and GBP 1,299* respectively.
