A comment from Gordon Pape in the latest issue of
The Moneyletter seems appropriate to talks of
internet stocks.

"I don't know how long this love affair with high
tech in general and the Internet in particular is going
to continue, but it certainly is one wild ride. Here's
one analogy I recently received from a reader.

'One of the great signs of a peak in Tokyo in
1989 was when the Enperor's Palace was worth
more than the whole state of California," he
noted, "Microsoft's market cap a few days ago
was US$460 billion. At that rate, its market
cap will exceed the GDP of Canada by July.
Microsoft can join the G7!"

So much for talk about caps and overevaluations.
