Re: CTXS and INTC Server Farm ASP Connection

Mike and Mardy,
Now I see where you guys are heading. But from my understanding of CTXS, it's the enemy of Intel. You see CTXS allows you to use a good old 386 processor and have full blown access to the company latest greatest processor on the server. For that matter client access is available anywhere in the world, and even on a wireless PDA. So I seriously doubt(IMHO) INTC would ever want to support a technology that would eliminate a companies need for desktop processing power.

But like MSFT, where TCO(total cost of ownership) came into play, INTC may reluctantly give in to the thin client solution?

You see that is the simplistic beauty of CTXS. Only screen refreshes come down the pipe to the client. No heavy duty processing need take place on the client. Mike your description of how you planned to implement CTXS sounds like it is coming from their old annual report of real world examples.

Just for your information, here's ICA's advantage over MSFT version of thin client. ICA has the best "load-balancing," feature. And MSFT knows this. So that is why CTXS is one of the few companies that went head to head with MSFT and amazingly came out on top (that 1997 debacle some have reffered to. Check the price chart). Load Balancing is when you hook multiple servers together and many clients try to hit them all at once. Well CTXS load-balancing feature spreads the work load over the server farm better than any of it's competitors.
