FYI,

Might be an old new.
From Electronic Buyers' News Daily Digest :
=====================================================================
Equipment B:B Ratio Slips Again
The North American semiconductor equipment industry's book-to-bill ratio seems to be on the same
slippery slide as that of Electronic Buyers' News Daily Digest)the U.S. semiconductor mart. Its April reading slid to 1.00 -- its lowest level in at
least six months -- from an adjusted ratio of 1.15 for March, according to Semiconductor Equipment and
Materials International (SEMI), indicating that $100 of orders were received for every $100 shipped.

Worldwide orders in April reached $1.36 billion, down 6% from March's $1.45 billion, while worldwide
shipments inched up to $1.35 billion.

"Some semiconductor manufacturers, especially in North America, are taking a wait-and-see attitude
toward new capacity commitments," said Dick Greene, principal analyst for the Mountain View,
Calif.-based trade association. "Key indicators such as first quarter personal computer sales, however, were
better than expected, and should help alleviate the much-publicized DRAM inventory problem. Long-term
needs for advanced semiconductor capacity remain intact and we expect manufacturing equipment orders to
be back on a growth track in the fourth quarter of 1996."
