You have provided the best anecdotal evidence of the potential for @home that I have seen. What's interesting is that the rise in usage of @home is occurring despite the absolutely horrible service. As long as there is no effective competition, TCI doesn't have to provide service. I would bet that most new subscribers have come from word of mouth of friends. When one considers that most people who have a modem have a separate telephone line exclusively used for the net and faxes, people discover that @home is cheaper than an ISP + a telephone and 50-100 times faster.
