I need to say something.....
this country was founded on freedom of speech.... no one was listening to these kids apparently, or the stock-piling of propane tanks and fire-arms couldn't have, wouldn't have happened.
Everyone deserves the right to be listened to, and to be who they ARE, whether it's a 'jock' a 'brain' or an 'outcast'. Everyone gets *picked one* in one way or another. Thank GOD I'm from a MUCH older generation, or, from the picking on I got as a child, I'd be out there killing everyday....
I don't try to exhonerate the actions of these kids, but I would really like to know HOW they snow-balled the evaluators into thinking all of the positive remarks I see reported about them.
I'm rambling here, but....... I'm still in shock that.. for the things *I* went through as a teen.... these kids KILLED other people. I don't care what time and age we're in... we need to listen to our children and respond to them... Listening isn't enough. If you listen without giving them feed-back, then they get confused. If you don't listen at all, they don't know what to think and so make choices that may or may not be *acceptable* in today's version of society.
Teens are some of my favorite people... ready to take on the world, yet.... not really sure that the world is ready for them...
just listen, look, be a PARENT, whether the child is yours or not, true parenting has little to do with WHO gave birth to the child....
as a truly gracious woman wrote.... "It takes a village, to raise a child".....
