Of course it has occurred to me that other people might be interested in something that does not interest me. You are most welcome to discuss whatever you would like, Joan. I was simply drawing a distinction between the essay you cited and the subject I was addressing--libertarianism as it impacts on different income groups and on the planet itself. That involves me on an emotional level.

Libertarianism compared and contrasted to liberalism in a historical context is an intellectual exercise to me, because it exists in the past and has no relevance that I can see to contemporary class warfare, ecological destruction, or other planetary issues I wanted to talk about when I was involved in that discussion. I wanted to discuss the effects of libertarianism in concrete, graphic terms, not abstract ones.

You clearly said "IF you are interested", when you wrote this sentence:

<<If you are interested, here is a rather nice discussion of the evolution of liberalism (from the on-line Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy):

plato.stanford.edu;

I was simply indicating that I was not. I did not realize that my being honest would offend you.
