Blue, I have no desire to fight. I think you delineated the libertarian position perfectly well. It is one I do not agree with--I believe instead in that old saying that the mark of a civilized society is how it treats its poorest citizens. I would add that is believing that, I am being purely selfish; the poor tend to prey on the rich in their desperation, and I do not want to be a victim of that. I also think, on a more idealistic plane, that it makes me less human to endure suffering, to walk over people dying on the sidewalks on the way to work. And in the planetary ecological collapse that is occurring, the selfishness of libertarians threatens the very existence of my children and the world itself. If you call saving the earth theft, or attempting to prevent starvation and misery theft, it is really futile to argue, because we are just so far apart that we would be shouting at each other for no reason. I am tired and my hay fever is bothering me. There is a big bottle of the new medication, Allegra, residing on the kitchen table ten feet from me, but I am too lazy to get up and get it, so I am certainly too wiped out to argue politics at the moment.

How about talking about some feelings, instead?
