1.) Since I live in Annapolis, I have had occasion to know quite a few Naval officers, including a couple of admirals. Also, I have known some officers from some of the other services, reserve, retired, and active. The idea that they are a bunch of power hungry fascists is laughable! Most of them are merely bureaucrats in uniform, and many are rather nice fellows. To the extent that they are ambitious, they care about their careers, and therefore are content to adjust to whichever way the wind blows out of Washington. The services are obsessed with getting their "fair share", but don't care much about the budget beyond that, as far as I can tell...
2.)It is possible that the Mafia aided in Bill's rise (there is, indeed, some evidence that Joe Kennedy reached out to Giacana in the past), but why would they care about Kosovo?...
3.)Even if the United States were an imperial power, why get bogged down in Kosovo. As targets of opportunity go, it is pretty pathetic....
4.)Redefining NATO isn't so hard, and doesn't require Kosovo, since NATO was already involved in Bosnia...
5.)The only ones with pins that I see are Berger, Albright, and Clinton,and maybe Blair... |
