I am not as cynical as you, in the first place. I agree that someone who aspired to the innocence of Thomas Aquinas, whose confessor was so shaken after hearing his last confession that he blurted out,"But that was the confession of a five year old child!", should not get into politics, and especially should not run for President. However, I don't think one has to be particularly corrupt,either, just willing to balance goods, which is, after all, a practical necessity for all of us...Anyway, I find the idea of "purity of Monica's heat" amusing, if nothing else, and I think that there are so many perks for being President, to forgo fellatio in the Oval Office is no hardship... |
