Some did, some didn't. There have only been a handful of known womanizers in the Presidency, most prominently Harding, Kennedy, and Clinton. Roosevelt had a relatively discrete affair, and although there is evidence that they resumed contact after he was President, there is no evidence that he was even capable of sex. Stephen Ambrose, Eisenhower's principal biographer, is pretty sure from the evidence that Eisenhower did not have an affair with Kaye Summersby, and in any case, the man was separated for a long period from his wife. There were not even rmors, that I know of, about Truman. Lyndon Johnson did cat around some, but not at anything like the Kennedy rate, and as far as anyone knows Nixon was ever faithful. Carter seems only to have lusted in his heart, nothing was ever and although Kitty Kelly floated a thinly sourced rumor about Nancy, Reagan seems to have been faithful. There was a rumor about Bush that never turned into anything. I realize that in my review, i have confined myself to post- War presidents, not Sultans, but then Clinton is just another post- War president... |
